Message from the President

Greetings to all members and visitors of the Philippine Lipid and Atherosclerosis Society!

Welcome my fellow members, esteemed colleagues and stakeholders of the Philippine Lipid and Atherosclerosis Society!

I am deeply honored and humbled to serve as the president of this prestigious society for the year 2026 to 2028. As we move forward to my term, we look to achieve our mission of advancing our advocacy in education and research in the management of dyslipidemia and atherosclerosis related disorders which continues to be the topmost cause of morbidity and mortality among our fellow Filipinos.

As such this website will continue to serve as our window of engagement for our upcoming activities, events and sharing of valuable resources for our members as we establish the certification of lipidologist in our country.

We would like to invite you to be part of this group of experts as we seek active collaborations with other organizations for the advancement of care for dyslipidemia and related metabolic disorders which are precursors to atherosclerotic cardiovascular disease.

National Nutrition Summit

The Philippine Lipid and Atherosclerosis Society (PLAS) proudly participated in the 2026 National Nutrition Summit organized by DOST-FNRI, held on June 17, 2026 at the Sheraton Manila Hotel, Pasay City.

Represented by our President, Dr. Elmer Jasper Llanes, PLAS joined fellow stakeholders from government, academe, civil society, and development partners in discussing the key results of the 2025 Updating Survey.

This important gathering emphasized the need for timely, evidence-based data to track progress toward the country’s 2030 nutrition and health targets, identify gaps, and strengthen collaboration for responsive, impactful programs. PLAS remains committed to advancing cardiovascular health and contributing to national efforts in improving the nutritional and health status of Filipinos.

1st Philippine Lipid and Atherosclerosis Society Comprehensive Lipid Excellence Course

Dear Colleagues,

We are delighted to invite you to become a PLAS Certified Lipid Expert by joining our 1st Comprehensive Lipid Excellence (CLEx) Course and Certifying Examination —a pioneering program designed to certify Philippine physicians in the management of dyslipidemia among Filipino patients.

Through this initiative, the Philippine Lipid and Atherosclerosis Society (PLAS) aims to strengthen the nation’s capacity to address dyslipidemia and improve cardiovascular health outcomes, ultimately contributing to the reduction of the cardiovascular disease burden in the Philippines.

Course Schedule:
• Dates: November 20–21, 2026
• Venue: Unilab Bayanihan Center
• Time: 8:00am – 5:00pm / 8:00am – 12:00pm

Registration Details:
• CLEx Course Fee: ₱6,000 (Course only)
• CLEx Course + Examination Fee: ₱10,000
• Examination is open to all Diplomates and Fellows of Cardiology, Nephrology, Endocrinology, Internal Medicine, Occupational Medicine and other specialties interested in Lipidology.
• Examination will be conducted during the first week of February 2027, prior to the PLAS–PSH Annual Convention on February 17, 2027.
